Placement Testing Registration

English and Mathematics are important parts of the foundational work here at MassBay Community College. All students enrolling into a degree or certificate program must fulfill the placement requirements.

  • - The Accuplacer Placement Test is designed to determine a student’s current skill level in both English and Math. This is not a pass/fail test.

  • - Most new students at MassBay are required to take Writing, Reading, and Math Placement Tests in order to enroll in courses.

  • - The only portion of the Placement Test that is timed is the Writing portion. The Reading and Math portions are untimed.

Requirements:

  • - MassBay Student ID Number
  • - Photo ID of any kind
  • - Laptop/Desktop computer with audio and video (Virtual testing only)

After you submit this form:

  • - You will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes.
  • - Please email aac@massbay.edu to cancel or reschedule.
  • - Please do not submit this form again.

You may qualify for a Placement Test waiver. To review these qualifications, visit our Placement Testing Requirements page.

If you have previous college credits for either English or Math courses, you may be exempt from one or all parts of the Placement Test. Please discuss this with the Advising Center.

If you have a documented disability and would like to discuss any academic accommodations for placement testing, please call the Accessibility Resources Center at 781-239-2234 or email them at arc@massbay.edu.

We look forward to meeting you all!

Please note:

If English is your second language and you have been living in the United States for less than 10 years, it is recommended that you register for the English as a Second Language (ESL) placement test.
